This workshop will empower participants to creatively explore electronic instruments for idea generation, be that musical or otherwise.

Are you interested in electronic music? Have you always wanted to get ‘hands on’ with synthesisers? Are you a creative looking to refine your setup for live performance or studio composition? This is for you!

Synthesisers, drum machines and FX units have literally changed the very fabric of society, from the abstract utopian visions of early electronic composers to the 808 driven cultural revolutions of rave culture, early hip-hop (& so, so much more).

Hosted by internationally acclaimed audio-visual artist Vijay Thillaimuthu, this workshop will give attendees the opportunity to delve into the history of electronic sound tools and culture before facilitating interaction with some of the most prominent electronic instruments of all time. Recently, Paul Purgas, of legendary avant-techno duo Empty set, uncovered a forgotten archive of tapes from electronic Indian pioneers of the late 60’s & early 70’s. This forever changed the narrative of the history of electronic music. How will your creativity and electric dreams shape the future?

All Artists welcome, spaces limited.

Due to the historical significance of the archives for the South Asian community, participants from South Asian diaspora are strongly encouraged to apply and will be prioritised.
