Community call out: be part of Home Bound
Do you have rope at home? New, old, demure, bold — we want it.
Introducing Home Bound. This bold and ambitious Betty Amsden Participation Program by artists Daniel Kok and Luke George is designed to weave communities and cultures together — quite literally — through a massive social tapestry, proudly latching onto Arts Centre Melbourne.
Presented and commissioned as part of Asia TOPA 2025, Kok and George will connect unlikely collaborators and mismatched materials to fuse the diverse stories of Melbourne into a giant woven artwork.
Are you a weaver? Knitter? Rigger? Sailor? Ropeworker? Or the owner of a shed full of abandoned fibres in need of a new home? Home Bound is calling for donations of ropes and weaving fibres from across Melbourne to become a part of this one-of-a-kind installation.
Hands-on, or hands-off — help us to create this epic artwork in real time. Join participatory workshops with the artists, donate materials or simply watch the construction as it winds, unwinds and weaves.
Like the ropes and fibres that bind this artwork, Home Bound is about connection — building pride and common ground between communities that don’t normally share the same space.
So, dig through your sheds, scout your homes, and send your materials our way.
