GENERATIONS: In conversationwith the Pacific Sisters and FAFSWAG

90’s fashion activists Pacific Sisters are celebrating their fourth decade together, creating extraordinary works that fuse craft, performance, tradition, pop culture and more.

The Sisters are renowned for paving the way for subsequent generations of Pasifika contemporary artists including FAFSWAG, the South Auckland based Arts Collective that has experienced a meteoric rise in the global arts scene.

Both the Pacific Sisters and FAFSWAG are presenting major new commissions for Asia TOPA this year. In this exclusive conversation the two collectives come together to reflect on the lessons kept and lessons left behind from one artistic generation to another. Discover more about how each collective was formed and what inspires them to keep making art, in this one-off event hosted by leading curator Jade Hadfield (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Whātua ki Kaipara).
